General Sir Richard Dannatt, the Chief of the General Staff, has upset the government. He apparently attended a dinner with some conservatives and said that there was a need for 2,000 extra men in Afghanistan.
This has got the government cross because they, of course, know better than he and have stated that there is no such requirement.
Now let's all guess who's right and who's wrong.

He's been consistantly good at pissing off Labour - I like him!
The Armed Forces have long needed a leader who is not afraid of telling the truth, and to hell with further promotion or a seat in the Lords.
He sounds like a good CGS. Well done to him!
Hasn't he been promoted to Govenor Of The Tower Of London ?
